Hi Everyone, This weekend’s teaching is the final message in our Extraordinary Nobodies series, and the narrative I’m covering is the one which inspired the series. The text is Numbers 27:1-11, and the ‘nobodies’ are 5 sisters, the daughters of Zelophehad: Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. Have you ever heard of them? Until a few weeks ago, me neither.I’m pretty sure I’ve looked at this section of Numbers at some point, but it wasn’t until recently that I paid any attention to these women - their lived experiences and the extraordinary significance of their actions. Read the text to familiarize yourself, and ask yourself: “Why is their story included in the text? Why do their actions matter? What’s different about the way these Scriptures describe sisters vs. brothers?” It might not be obvious at first, but this is a fascinating little text with staggering implications. To help make room, we will be moving our service time on Saturdays to 6 pm and ask you to consider attending:Saturday, Church at 6. Why? This will open up room for our growing Sunday attendance and help to accommodate families with young children who may need an earlier bedtime on Saturday. An earlier time will also provide an opportunity for connecting more after the service.When? Starting September 2, 2023Will there be kids programming? Yes! We are welcoming back Nursery, available for children ages 0-2, and complete Kids Ministry programming for children ages 3 to Grade 6 on Saturday nights. If you are considering making this switch, we ask you to register and commit to attending Church at 6 for the fall. Child Dedication is a way to acknowledge our dependence on the leadership and guidance of the Holy Spirit as we do our best to be an example and lead our children into a relationship with Jesus.Our next Child Dedication will be on September 16 & 17. A great way to meet others and get some exercise. 8:15 pm to 9:45 pm. Court shoes are required. You can drop in; no registration is required. Wednesday Women’s Walk/Run Group Women, come and connect by meeting together for a walk or run! Meet at the church front doors on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 pm, walk or run for half an hour, and then chat after! A great way to meet other women and get some exercise.
