Hello Church Family—I’m looking ahead to what’s in store for us on the weekend as we continue to study Malachi. Most of Malachi is obscure and it’s not often taught in the manner we’re doing it. But if you’ve grown up in a church environment or studied the Old Testament, you might know how there’s one section of Malachi that gets taught with some frequency. Some of you know what’s coming!

We’ve arrived at the section on tithing...on offerings. But rather than use this knowledge as a reason not to engage on the weekend, I want to suggest that you allow it to motivate you to fully engage. The text is Malachi 3:6-12, read it and weep. Did I say that out loud? Anyway, check it out but hold your assumptions. This is an important text for sure and often dealt with out of context and therefore frequently misapplied. There’s more nuance to this section of Malachi than you might think!

As a church, each Christmas we come together to express our love to our International Workers. You can participate this year by writing a note of encouragement in a number of different ways or by giving a financial gift. Go to spac.ca/iwchristmas to find out all the details!

Cards can be picked up or dropped off at the church during office hours or around a weekend service—Nov 27/28, Dec 4/5, Dec 11/12, and Dec 18/19.

On Monday, December 13, 2021 at 7:00 pm we will be hosting an in-person and online service for those who are grieving or struggling this Christmas. Join us for some scripture, music, and prayers as we learn to lean on God to bring His comfort.

This Christmas season we are offering an evening of Christmas cheer for the community of Millbourne on December 13th and 15th at 6:30 pm! This event will have both indoor and outdoor components.

Volunteers will be helping inside with a Christmas activity and a photo booth. Outside we will have firepits, hot chocolate, and cookies. This is a great serving opportunity for all ages. Come join the fun and Christmas spirit in Millbourne. Hope to see you there! spac.ca/millbourne

Advent is an opportunity to pause and reflect on the birth of Jesus and center your home around the good news of our long-awaited Saviour. Before the calendar begins to overflow, make a plan to set aside a few minutes each day to remember and celebrate this Advent season by engaging in activities, prayer, and intentional conversations about Jesus as a family.

Service Time Changes

Beginning on Sunday, November 28th, we will move back to having two services on a Sunday morning one at 9:00 am and the other at 11:00 am. Saturday will stay the same with one service at 7:00 pm.

Both Sunday services will have full Kids programming and nursery available! Saturday services will stay the same.

Church membership is the next step for those who believe in what God is doing at Sherwood Park Alliance Church. It's a commitment to participate in our mission to make disciples of Jesus, to love God, and to love others.
