Books We Don't Read: Hosea

Books We Don

Hi Church Family,

I’m taking a brief time out from my prep to encourage your participation in the new message series I’m beginning this weekend. Books We Don’t Read is pretty much exactly what it sounds like - a dive into parts of the Bible most of us rarely read or study...the prophets, specifically the so-called ‘minor prophets.’
By the way I get it. We’re definitely covering some unconventional literature these next few weeks! If you’ve tried to read the works of Hosea, Amos, or Zephaniah, you may have gotten lost in dense poetry and strange imagery. But these portions of the Old Testament are super important for grasping the overall biblical story, and well worth our time. And I’m right with you in this...I’m going to be teaching from material I’ve rarely read or taught. Getting ready for these messages is stretching me big time!
I’ll get us going on Saturday and Sunday with a short coach on how to read from the prophets in a general sense, and then do a flyover on the book of Hosea. If Hosea and Gomer are unknown characters for you, well, their story might shock you a bit, but what their experience reveals about God’s commitment to His people is inspiring.
We’re together in person at 7 pm on Saturday, and at 10 am on Sunday - online live at those same times, and on demand later in all the usual places.
Take care!

turkey_1293_×_300_px.jpgPray for Turkey and Syria

The Alliance Canada is quick to respond to crisis when it happens around the world and we can give to their Global Emergency Relief Fund to help bring needed relief to those suffering from a destructive earthquake in Turkey/Syria.
We can also pray.
Pray for those who are working to find survivors in the debris, for those who are treating the injured, and for those who are still in need of care.
Pray that the Lord’s compassion would be upon the people of Syria and Turkey.
Pray that He would bring comfort to them in their grief, that He would encourage and empower those who are coming alongside the hurting, and that He would direct helping hands to serve in the ways that He’d have them serve.
