We are all familiar with the Nike swoosh and the rallying slogan ‘Just Do It’. It appears on bags, T-shirts and billboards all over the world. Created in 1987 as part of Nike’s first major television campaign, it’s one of the most memorable tag lines in advertising history. The use of the slogan was the brainchild of a man named Dan Wieden, and there’s lots of rumours online about his morbid inspiration...I’ll save that for another day!But interestingly, I think James the brother of Jesus had it first, all the way back around 50 AD. His version might not sound like a tight slogan, and it’s probably too long to fit in the box, but it goes like this: “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. DO what IT says.” (James 1:22). “Just do it,” says James.I want to invite you to gather this weekend, either Saturday night or Sunday morning, in-person or online.
