Over 100 people of all ages gathered to participate in Sherwood Park Alliance Church's Family Amazing Race last Saturday, put on by NextGen Ministries. It was a beautiful, crisp fall morning as registered teams "raced" around Sherwood Park with a list of riddles in-hand leading them to locations like the historic Smeltzer house, Millennium Place, and Centennial Park. Teams were given a challenge (like guess how many pickles are in the jar, sing a Christmas Carole, build a human pyramid, or hunt for the letter and unscramble the word) by pastors and staff before disclosing a much needed clue needed to complete the race.Everyone had a lot of fun and we received awesome feedback. Here's what people had to say:"Great community!""Loved that the pastors and staff were a part of it!""Super fun, loved seeing all the other families and the pastors and staff. We see pastors all the time on weekends, but they don't necessarily see us. It was really nice to interact with them in that way.""Well organized, everything went really smoothly!"Thank you to everyone who came out and participated--We're Looking forward to more opportunities for community like this in the future! Last weekend, Pastor Brody talked about finding joy in the little things as he continued teaching on The Book of Ecclesiastes. Life's not completely pointless - our future death is a light God shines on the present - in order to change it. Facing death can radically enable us to enjoy life. Our future death can change us from people who strive to control life into people who find deep joy in receiving life as a gift. If you missed it, or want to listen to past series and sermons again, they are available on-demand, for your convenience.Hope you can join us this weekend as Pastor Greg resumes teaching in The Book of Ecclesiastes 3:1-22. The times of our life are not the only times there are. There's a time to be born and a time to die...AND...there is a time to give an account. One of the ways we learn to live is by preparing to die, realizing that death means judgment. What is past may be past, but what is past is not forgotten to God, and because He's in charge and lives forever, one day all will be made well...look to then.Register for in-person gathering on Sunday, 11 am.Online gathering takes place Saturday 7 pm, Sunday 9 am and 11 am on the website, Facebook, YouTube, Apple TV and Fire TV.
