Lift Your Hands

Postures • Greg Hochhalter
In Psalm 63, David cries out, "You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek You; I thirst for You, my whole being longs for You, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.” A lot of us can relate to David’s sense of dryness… desolation…loneliness. And like so many other Psalms, David begins to work out his faith. He rights himself, he reflects on the love of God, and despite his circumstance, he forces himself to praise (he’s in a bad place, let he finds the capacity to say ‘I will praise you as long as I live.’). And then in verse 4 he says, ‘In Your name I will lift up my hands.’ David’s worship, his lifted hands are a demonstration of total dependence and surrender…confidence and faith.
