Malachi

Hello Church Family—Are you tired of thinking about the state of the world? Fed up with descriptions of our polarized community? Would you like a break from weekend messages tuned directly to what’s happening in culture? If you answered ‘yes’ to any of those questions, I have an invitation for you!

Between this weekend and Christmas, we’re going to study the Old Testament book of Malachi. I’ve never taught Malachi in its entirety, and the more I’m getting into it, the more fascinating it’s becoming.

We’re going to teach this book in little chunks and see where it leads us. If you’re wondering whether this exercise is worth your time and attention, trust me when I tell you that it’s worth it to pay attention to this strange, old book. Yes, it’s an account of God’s activity among a group of people who lived a long, long time ago, but it also speaks to us about the here and now, and can change the way you think and feel about everything. That’s kind of how the Bible works!

Jump in with us online or in person on Saturday or Sunday. I’m going help you read and study the Bible, including the weirdness, joy, hope, innuendos, and implications that surface.

Board Changes

When Kent Maddigan accepted the role of Kids Pastor here at Sherwood Park Alliance, he stepped off the Elder Board leaving a vacancy. Kyla Loewan has now been appointed to fulfill the rest of Kent's term, please pray for Kyla as she steps into this role.

In addition, Kent also held the office of Vice Chair, which has been filled by Al Schuld for the remainder of this year. If you wish to communicate with the Board for any reason, you may reach them at elders@spac.ca.

When we re-orient our lives around living and loving like Jesus, we are made new. Baptism is a celebration of this commitment and a time to share how God is transforming us. Baptism is this picture of how the gospel changes lives. It’s a remembering of that moment or season where you said ‘yes’ to God – His love, His forgiveness, His purpose for your life.

Baptism Prep Classes will be held in person in the Fireside Room after each service on October 30/31 and November 6/7. Registration not required.

International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church

Join us as we pray with others from our Church Family for the Persecuted Church around the World. You will have the opportunity to hear personal testimonies from parts of the world where Christians are being targeted, pray for specific requests, and connect with others from the church family.
